Spotify Saves and Pre-Saves for Tracks, Albums and Upcoming Releases

A save tells Spotify that a listener liked a song enough to keep it. Pre-saves do the same thing before release day, adding an upcoming release to a listener's library as soon as it goes live. SpotBoost offers both: saves for tracks, albums and podcast episodes from $0.09 per 1,000, and pre-saves for upcoming releases at $19 per 1,000 using Spotify prerelease links.

This page explains when each service makes sense, which link to use and how to fit saves into a release plan without overdoing it.

Why saves matter

Saves are one of the listener signals artists watch most closely, alongside skips, repeat listens and playlist adds. They show intent: someone chose to keep your music. Spotify for Artists shows your saves, and many artists track the ratio between saves and listeners to see how a song is landing. Our article on save rate, skip rate and listener retention explains how to read those numbers.

That said, no single number decides algorithmic reach. How real listeners respond to your music is what counts over time, and a saves order cannot guarantee algorithmic playlists or editorial placement.

What you get

  • Saves for three content types. Tracks, albums and podcast episodes each have their own service.
  • Pre-saves before release. Pre-saves work with open.spotify.com/prerelease/ links, which Spotify generates for upcoming releases.
  • Country options. Country-specific services exist for each market, plus GLOBAL and EU options on many services.
  • Automatic delivery. Orders start automatically; average completion times are on the Services page.
  • Drip-feed. Split saves into runs so they build gradually alongside your plays.
  • Balance protection. Undelivered parts of partial or canceled orders go back to your balance automatically.

Pre-saves and your release plan

Pre-saves are most useful in the weeks before release day, when you are building anticipation. Spotify for Artists offers Countdown Pages that let fans pre-save and preview an upcoming release, and you should promote that page through your socials and mailing list. A pre-saves order can support that campaign with an initial base, but the pre-saves that matter most in the long run are from your own fans.

Remember to pitch your song through Spotify for Artists at least 7 days before release so it can be considered for your followers' Release Radar. Our guide to running a pre-save campaign covers timing, Countdown Pages and pre-save links in detail.

How it works

  1. Sign up. Create a free SpotBoost account.
  2. Add funds in crypto. Top up with Bitcoin, USDT or another supported coin; payments are credited automatically.
  3. Choose the service. Pick saves (track, album or episode) or pre-saves, and the country or region.
  4. Paste the correct link. Use the full open.spotify.com link: /track/, /album/ or /episode/ for saves, and /prerelease/ for pre-saves. Short spotify.link URLs are not accepted.
  5. Set the quantity. Enter an amount at or above the service minimum.
  6. Optional: enable drip-feed. Choose the number of runs and the interval.

For pre-saves, place the order well before release day. Once the release is live, the prerelease link is no longer the right target, and a standard saves service applies instead.

Best practices

  • Keep saves in proportion to plays. Saves should make sense next to your streams and listeners. A song with very few plays and a huge number of saves looks unusual, so grow them together and in line with your organic engagement.
  • Pace with drip-feed. Saves arriving over several days fit a release better than one burst. See our guide to gradual growth with drip-feed.
  • Keep content public and available. The track, album or episode must stay live for the whole order.
  • Focus on real fans first. Countdown Pages, Canvas, short-form video and direct fan messages produce the saves that last.
  • Be aware of platform reviews. Spotify can review tracks and may remove activity that looks unnatural. Moderate, gradual orders keep your stats consistent.

Plan your release

Saves and pre-saves work best as part of a full release plan. Our 6-week release checklist for independent artists shows where pre-saves, pitching and promotion fit on the calendar.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between saves and pre-saves?

Saves are added to a track, album or episode that is already live on Spotify. Pre-saves are for upcoming releases and use an open.spotify.com/prerelease/ link, so the release is added to libraries when it goes live.

Which link do I need for pre-saves?

Use the full open.spotify.com/prerelease/ link for your upcoming release. Regular track links, links from third-party pre-save tools and spotify.link short links are not accepted for this service.

How much do Spotify saves cost?

Saves for tracks, albums and episodes start from $0.09 per 1,000. Pre-saves cost $19 per 1,000. Prices can change, so check the Services page for current rates and minimums.

Do saves help with the Spotify algorithm?

Saves are one of several listener signals, together with skips, repeat listens and playlist adds. They can support a release, but no order guarantees algorithmic playlists, editorial placement or a specific result.

When should I order pre-saves?

Order pre-saves during the weeks before release day, while your prerelease link is active. Once the release is live, switch to the regular saves service with the track or album link.

How many saves should I order compared to plays?

Keep saves in proportion to your plays and listeners, in line with your organic engagement. Growing both gradually with drip-feed keeps your stats looking consistent.
